Andy Garman

NewsChannel 8 Sports

Andy Garman is Sports Director at KCCI-TV and joined the team in September 2005.

Prior to coming to NewsChannel 8, he spent 5½ years as sports director for KDSM in Des Moines and KGAN/KFXA in Cedar Rapids. During his time there, Andy won several awards for his work, including the Best Sportscast Award from the Iowa Associated Press in 2004, and Best Sports Special awards in 2000, 2001, and 2002.

Andy began his career at KEVN Fox 7 in Rapid City, S.D., first as weekend sports anchor and reporter, then as sports director.

Andy is a 1998 graduate of the University of Iowa, with a degree in Communication Studies. In his free time (if he ever gets any), he is an avid golfer and movie fan.

Andy and his wife Meredith were married in August of 2007.  They live in West Des Moines with their beagle, Bailey.
