Molly Nelson

Molly Nelson is a reporter for NewsChannel 8. Molly joined the KCCI team in January 2006.

Before coming to KCCI, Molly worked as a reporter at KGAN, the CBS affiliate in Cedar Rapids. She got her start at KDSM Fox 17 in Des Moines, where she worked as a photojournalist, assignment manager and reporter.

Molly attended Drake University and played on the women's basketball team. She was a member of the Bulldogs 2001-2002 team that advanced to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament.

Molly is no stranger to central Iowa, having grown up in Fort Dodge watching and admiring KCCI. Molly said she is thrilled to be back in central Iowa, close to her family and friends.

In her free time, Molly enjoys running, shopping and cooking. She ran the Des Moines Marathon in 2004 and the half marathon in 2005.

Molly is married to Kole Petersen, who is also from Fort Dodge.
